THE Commission for Rural Communities has submitted its first 'recession' report to the government.

The document - the first in a series of regular reports detailing the rural impacts of the recession - was submitted to rural affairs secretary Hilary Benn.

Despite widespread fears over jobs, the report suggests rural unemployment levels have remained steady over the past year.
